From Colorado Public Utilities Commission:
Xcel Energy is considering sizable increases in rates, which will directly impact our community.

See details below.

Please tell Colorado Cross-Disability Coalition (CCDC) how such changes will affect you before Xcel finalizes their plans!

What is at stake?

  • Xcel Energy recently proposed a 12% rate increase that would go into effect next year, but that’s not all.
  • They are now proposing an extreme weather charge of $12-13 per month as well as added charges for summer month usage between 2 pm and 6 pm.
  • The current Colorado Public Utilities Commission is focused on energy conservation, and while this could be seen as good news, they are neglecting to understand how some programs will hurt low-income communities and/or individuals who are medically fragile.

How can you take action?

With this in mind, Colorado Cross-Disability Coalition (CCDC) is helping our friends at Energy Outreach Colorado collect stories from people who will be impacted negatively by rate increases. Decision-makers need to hear your story to understand how these increases will affect the everyday lives of consumers who have low income and/or are medically fragile (meaning that a person needs oxygen 24 hours a day, ventilators, and/or temperature-controlled housing, which requires continuous electricity).

WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

The hearing to discuss these rate changes will take place in the coming weeks, so we need to collect stories NOW to make an impact.

Feel free to write your story in any format (Microsoft Word, email, Google Document, etc). You are free to use your name and/or other identifying information or to share your thoughts anonymously, but please know that your story may be shared publicly.
