Caregivers are an essential part of many Coloradans’ daily lives. Some caregivers are paid to provide care.
However, many caregivers are relatives or close friends of the person they are caring for, and they are doing the hard work of caregiving without compensation. Studies have shown that these unpaid family caregivers often experience a higher rate of both physical and mental health problems due to their caregiving responsibilities.
The Bell Policy Center recently surveyed family caregivers about their mental health to understand what those caregivers are experiencing and why. An expert from this organization will present the findings of this survey to the Aging Caucus on March 11, 2025.
