This virtual event will spotlight two innovative solutions to the lack of affordable housing — both being piloted on college campuses and their surrounding communities.
- Ernest Gonzales is an associate professor and director of The Center for Health and Aging Innovation at New York University, Silver School of Social Work. In 2018, he helped launch the NYU Intergenerational Home Share Program with a goal of bolstering housing stability, economic security, and meaningful social bonds between older adults and graduate students.
- Carrie Buck is the executive director of Homelessness Intervention Services of Orange County and a Gen2Gen Innovation Fellow. She is currently partnering with Cal State Fullerton and the California Community College system to match aging homeowners at risk of social isolation with college students in need of affordable housing. Carrie will be joined by a student and homeowner who are currently co-living.
- Encore.org’s Michelle Gahee will moderate the conversation about the benefits and challenges of these homesharing models. We’ll reserve time for your questions, too!
